IW Tea Party - My entry to the Cover Art Contest

As I said before we will have a Lolita Tea Party here in Austria next month. The organisation team announced several contests and there was one in which I felt like participating - The Cover Art Contest.

The task was to create a picture that resembles 'Lolita' and 'Vienna' :) The winning entry will be printed on the cover of the info brochure and there is a secret price.
This was my entry:

My art is a lot inspired by Sakizo's illustrations lately ~

The winner of the contest will be announced at the Tea Party. I don't know if I have a chance, there were so many awesome entries ♥ , but I'm already exited to see who won.
You can few the other works here :D

Do you guys like to draw? Tell me in the comments!

Lolita Birthday Meet-up// LALOAM of September

A week ago my friends Punkangel and Mary celebrated their birthdays together in form of a Meet-up. We went to a Schnitzel restaurant which had very special Schnitzel creations. The location of the restaurant was also great for a photoshoot. So, after an amount of time we spent with talking great rubbish, we took some outfit pictures.

Outfit rundown:
Hat: eBay
Shirt: H&M
JSK: bodyline
Socks: Topshop
Shoes: an*tai*na

It really was a day full of fun and I hope we can repeat this next year
Also, my survey is still up. Feel free to answer the question.

Thank you!

DIY Drawer Dollhouse

As promised in previous posts I want to share a little DIY project with you. I turned an old drawer into a dollhouse. I found the idea for it in a magazine my mother often buys and immediately wanted to try it myself.

This is the final result:

The tutorial:

You will need:
 old drawer
paint suitable for wood
brushes of various sizes
♥ tape
♥scrapbook-paper
♥ misc. things for decoration

At the beginning my drawer didn't have plank in the middle. My Stepfather helped me with it. Sadly he did so while I wasn't at home so I don't have any pictures on how it looked before or on how he did this -.-
Nevertheless this plank will us help to create two floors in the dollhouse.

The next step is to give colour to the whole drawer. You can choose any colour you prefer. For me, I chose light pink and white ^^

The pink out of the can was too dark for my taste so I mixed it with white until I had a nice pastel pink.

Colour it - an easy and fun part :D

After some time it should look like this. I left the plank out as I wanted it to be white.

Before using a new colour I masked off the pink parts around the plank with tape. Doing so will prevent stains of the second colour on the colour you used first.

For the 'walls' of the dollhouse I used scrapbooking paper.

Cut it into the right size and glue it into the drawer.

For the upper floor I also wanted to create a window. I used scrapbook materials again :)

With some cardboard paper I created a windowsill and sat a bird on it
The furniture is a set from the brand 'Sylvanian Families'. It's pretty much dollhouse toys just that the dolls are animals. I had a few when I was a kid and since I saw them in the stores again I wanted to buy a little set. Up to now I just didn't know where to put it ^^

This is the furnished dollhouse without much details.
For the details I mostly used parts of broken jewelry and buttons. It's a good opportunity to use small objects which you don't know how to use otherwise.

For the mirror I crocheted a round piece and glued a mirror from a broken compact mirror on it.

Then, simply glue it on the wall :)

Here I added a FIMO bow, a part of a broken brooch and an old button shaped like a Teddy Bear :D

And here you can see another three buttons.

And here are the finished floors ♥

The carpet under the piano was also created with scrapbook paper.

Well I hope you liked this tutorial and it was some help to you.
If anybody of you is going to make his own drawer-dollhouse don't forget so send me a picture ♥ I'd love to see it!

See you,
Yaya ♥

London travel diary - part 6/final part

So here is the last part of my London travel diary witch is devoted to all random things I couldn't fit into the other posts ^^

From our visit at Madam Tussaud's. I actually was a bit disappointed with Madam Tussaud's. Even though they had six floors they hardly had any celebrities I was really interested in ~

This was taken from London Eye. We had luck we got on there right when the sun set :D
It just was a pity that the line to London Eye was super long and due to problems (which were never fully explained to us >.<) we had to wait 1 hour in the queue before we could finally enter it :/
I still enjoyed it though ~

A beautiful artwork we saw at an underpass

One day we were lucky enough to see a squirrel. It wasn't shy and came pretty near to us. Still it was to fast to take a proper photo of it ;_;

An advertisement near the cinema we went one day :D

On our 4th day we also went to see the change of the guard.

Some blue trees. I read somewhere that an artist coloured the trees blue to draw peoples attention to them and to show people how important trees are for us. I just hope the colour didn't damage the trees ._.

And last but not least, me in Chinatown. Chinatown was actually pretty small o.O I think it took us 10 mins to go through it xD

Well and here my travel diary comes to an end. I hope I didn't bore my lovely readers too much with it xD For me it was great to go through all the adventures once more and write my memories down :)

Next time I want to write about my promised DIY tutorial and I also have an outfit to share with you soon
See you,
Yaya

London travel diary - part 5

So here is the last but one part of my travel diary :D This time I want to write about Camden Market, a place to shop I enjoyed very much.

In Camden Market you can find sale booths and shops with unconventional goods. From goth, to cyber punk, to vintage fashion you can find everything. In one shop I even discovered a very loliable dress which I didn't buy though ~

The shops in Camden also had very interesting fronts:

Shoes everywhere ~

While we were in Camden we also saw a rainbow. That was so nice

Another interesting thing (at least for me) about Camden was the food they sell there. They provide an huge variety of kitchens from different continents. We ate something Jamaican if I remember it right :D

Anybody of you who had been in Camden before?

London travel diary - part 4

So my London travel diary continues. Today I want to show pictures of other two shops I really enjoyed: The Disney Shop and The Moomin Shop :D

Little My

Me holding Moomin's hand  I'm sorry for the strange light in the pic.

The Moomin shop was rather small and sadly also rather expensive, so I didn't buy anything. However I really enjoyed the wall decoration.

The Disney Shop mostly provided clothes for children. However on one floor the had a lot of merchandising and I was pretty close to buy a Snow White doll. I didn't buy it in the end though ~

This travel diary will have one or two more posts until I'm finished.  I also have a little DIY project to share with you soon, so stay tuned!
